my opinion. i would build the engine myself. if you buy a crate engine it takes the fun out of the build. now i dont know how you are financially if you feel you need the $ then sell it.i think thats a fair price.

If your havin the block done by a shop, just sell what you have and get a good crate from GM or Edelbrock. unless you are on a budget, then keep what you have till you have the money to pick. You could also check the junk yards to see if there are any big blocks, then have one of those rebuilt. depending on where you are.

I decided to go with the rebuild. I found some kits on Jegs and at Summit so I can get the upper and lowers ends that all work together and I wont have to worry if my cam works with the heads or whatever. I dont think I will have it bored over any, just stock sizes only newer with some improved flow. I am also goint with a 5 speed manual from keisler. This is still in the planning stages, I havent commited to many parts yet so my options are still open for advice (hint hint).

So I am out in the garage today, and while thinking about the parts I need thought I would measure the cylinder wall. Turns out they are just over 4 inches, in fact .30 over. So someone at sometime in the blocks life did something to it. Now that I know this.... whatcam / rocker combo would you recommend? heads? I can afford aluminum heads and maybe hydrolic lifters.

Stick with the 327 crank, then, that way you can rev higher than a standard 350, but you're pretty much the same on volume. The best thing to do for the cam is to talk to a pro. Call up a manufacturer and ask them what they think for a cam with what you have and what you want it to do.They'll be the most likely to give up the best information on that.[/align]

So I am looking at this block and realise that either I have never seen one of these or I forget what it is..... the cylindrical thing on top. BTW this is the block in question...
