Default running hot

My 91 z28 305 tpi runs way too hot. The manual says that the radiator fan switch isnt even supposed to turn on until 236 degrees, which is way too close to over heating for my liking. What would be the correct replacements to make it run closer to 220 or a little lower? I was thinking a bigger radiator lower thermostat and maybe a way to turn the fans on lower.

TPI should have two fans, one runs until you are over 35 MPH and the other with the A/C only at 220 Deg.
Steps to take:

1) power flush the cooling system
2) new coolant
3) 180 deg thermostat
4) make sure the air dam is place

Well the problem is that the fan won't turn on until 236 degrees. Do you know how I can make it turn on at like 220?

My car is doing the same thing, Ive changed the thermostat and flushed out the radiator, it only cools down when I turn the heat or AC on.
Summit sells a switch that turns the fans on at cooler temps.
Also another idea is to hook it up to a toggle switch so you can turn it on whenever you want.

This should help you out with the fan switch on summit.

i have used that jet fan switch on my 89 RS, and it helped me with the same problem you are describing. i had overheating issues sitting in traffic when there is minimal airflow through the air damn. i would give it a try if i were you
