Default RS or Z28?

So I'm looking to get a Camaro, but I can't decide which I should get. The Z28's I'm looking at arent much more than the RS I found, but I'm afraid the RS wont have enough power to race with my friends since it has the TBI engine. Which is the way to go? I can get an 89 RS with 80k miles on it for 1800, or get a Z28 with more miles on it for $2800. Thanks in advance.

Keep looking....power wise, stay away from the 305 TBI.

The TBI is some what a dog. My 84 carb ( with a few bolt ons) had more get up and go than my 91 TBI.

Would there be anythingI coulddo to the engine to get some more power out of it? At this rate it seems more logical to get a 5.0 Mustang for $2,000 which has significantly more power to it.

Well what if I drop a new engine into it? I can do that in a couple of months once I save up. I figure I could get the car for around $1600 cash if I talk the person down some.

Engine swaps are not cheap and most of them never happen.[sm=headbang.gif]

I know engine swaps arent cheap, but my English teachers husband is a mechanic so he'd be doing the work for relatively cheap. I would just have to supply the parts. I found a busted 89 Firebired witha 5.7L V8 for pretty cheap, so I was thinking of gutting it's engine and just putting it in the Camaro.
