Default Restoring an 84 berlinetta

Hey everyone, I'm new 'round here. I've got an 84' berlinetta that I bought for 350 bucks. I'm looking to restore it and possibly put a 350 in it instead of the 305 it has in it now. It is running and I have driven it, but not very far. I have some issues w/the dash, but other than that, it's not in too bad of shape. Any suggestions would be helpful!

A little rough looking. Also from your remarks about restoring & getting it running with a 350 are two different things.

sorry, I guess I didn't mean restore, I mean get it fixed up, painted, I also just realized that this should have gone under the 3rd gen part, not the V8 tech, I didn't realize it was a different section, I thought it was a title with the subforums under it I'm kinda new to forums, sorry everyone

Default Berlinetta "the digital camaro"

I had one of these a few years ago and loved the car. first off if you mean your having dash trouble as in the digital dash isnt working and its just blinking random crap then its junk. I went through 3 of these owning my car and they just suck. I live in NH and whenever it got muggy or cold out the dash would crap out and never come back. Also they're very expensive to just keep buying. I bought my first one on a deal for 125.00 and the next one for 250.00. and for me that was pretty expensive since they just **** out anyways. also keep those original wheels. the centers are hard to find in junk yards but you can purchase them on ebay for a reasonable price. they look good cleaned up. oh and if your going to try to keep that car pretty stock if the radio works then dont take it out. you have to cut the **** out of your center console to get another radio in and it WILL NOT FIT. I tried everything and they just didnt make it so you can put an aftermarket one in. you would have to buy a whole new center console to make it not look like ****. if the windows are electric and roll slowly dont think u need to replace them. the more you use them they'll get faster. ughmm, i did my car all over inside and out and if you have any questions about them just e-mail on this forum.

oh and one more thing. just paint the whole car and just take off the bottom striping. the stripings really expensive and not worth buying. you have a rare interior too, take care of it.

Thanks Evelyn, and on the dash I didn't mean the digital stuff, it's all working fine, I'm refering to the two clusters of buttons on either side of the gauges that control lights/heat/ac/wipers/ect... On the right side, pretty much everything works except for the left turn signal switch, right signal works fine, on the left side, nothing works, when I unplugged the whole cluster, the wipers came on w/the key on. could I just have a bad cluster (or whatever you call it)?

Yeah the switches on the side suck too. behind your directional "switch" there are just two little metal buttons that are pushed when you either go up or down. these buttons have gotten weak since its over 20 years old and you cant push them hard enough with that little directional switch. try taking the right one apart down to the button circuit board. Try pushing the button on that and see if ur directional works then. if thats the case. then you need to take the front plate with the switch and stuff on it. pop the switch out and take a file. carefully file the top and bottom of the hole where the switch would be. this will allow the switch to go up and down farther and can push the circuit board button in harder making it able to work and still look nice. do it with a reasonable gritted file. you dont want it to look like ****. now on the other side id have to say its ur connection. try taking it apart and cleaning it. or maybe its a fuse??
