i have a 1992 rs. removed the tbi unit and installed the carb. removed a smog including the pump. a/c still worked great. all the gauges worked great. if it is a manual then no worries. if it auto you are going to lose lock up. there are a couple a different ways to get around this. i used a barry grant bypass regulator on mine. also buy a good throttle cable bracket that includes the trans cable. i bought one from jegs that is sturdy.

thanx guys for all the input. we have moved foreward without the computer.

it used to be years ago that i would have finished this over the course of a week, wrenching on it compulsively until i was completed. This time its my sons car, its his first one, im making him pay for the parts, and he is working in lots of recreation with his friends. So its getting there..

In fact- the engine compartment has been cleaned and painted. radiator is in, accessories and belts in, last night we installed a used weber and are ready for fuel lines and cables, and we bought needed parts for the HEI distrubutor. (engine not original to the car) Tonight we finish carb and distrubutor, and begin working our way through the new wiring harness that came off of the 84 donor.

So, this is taking a bit longer than i wanted, but i can guarantee you i will ultimately prep another young motorhead for a life of car enthusiasm when i am done. and that, my friends, is priceless.
