Default Pulling the most power out of a 305, TPI or Carb?

Hey guys,

Just got my second camaro, it's 86 Z28 T-top. my first was an identical model (except not a T-top) i did a LS1 swap on it it was great. That was several years ago. With this one i want to keep the 305 in it, but pull as much power out of it as i can. that being said i had an idea i wanted some insight on.

The car is currently equiped with a 4 berrel carb, but i was thinking of "upgrading" to a TPI but i have not really been able to find a divinitive answer on which set up preforms better. Most of the problems that found with the TPI was a lack of air flow starting at about 5000 RPM, but considering my engine redlines at about that anyway i am not two concerned with it. it also seems like a good move bevause the stock TPI model is rated about 40 HP higher than the stock carb. if anyone has any thoughts on the swap or even some pros and cons to either set up let me know.

As long as both the carb and theTPI flow the same amount of air, it makes no difference. If they are properly tuned. The TPI may have the edge on driveability, but a properly set up carb will be pretty good also.
