problem with 85 305 v8 cutting out
hey i recently bought a 85 camaro f41 in beautiful condition. i bought it from a dealer who got it from a guy a month before that had it sitting in a barn for 15 years. the dealer replaced all the parts necisary and drained all the fluids and replaced them. the issue i have is ill be driving down the road in the 40 s and it will soutter when i try to accelelrate and then the engine will cut out. the dealership said it could be the fuel filter and i replaced that about a week ago and it ran fine for a while. im woundering if it just needs a new fuel filter or something eles
thank you guys for your input

it may be that that new filter is pluged again. after setting for that long no telling what kind of mess is in the tank. take the filter out and dump it in a clear container so u can see what if anything is in there. water, gunk or rust. if its clean put it back on and save the new one if u already bought it. if its got rust i would change the tank. if its full of crap u may be better off taking the tank out and cleaning.

More information is needed before we can give you any feedback.
F41 is a performance suspension package, but that doesn't tell us what model you have. Both Carburetor and TPI were available on the 305, depending on what package you got. And that will change the answers greatly.

You should have a Quadrajet carb. If you haven't already, remove the fuel line and the inlet fitting on the carb. Inside there could be a small filter, either a paper or a sintered bronze. Those are often overlooked and forgotten, and could be plugged. Be careful when tightening that fitting back on. Don't horse it, or you could strip the threads on the carb.
Also look at your fuel pump, passenger side of engine. Look to see if it's wet with gas anywhere. Even if the diaphragm isn't leaking, the pump still could be bad though.
