97 Camaro needs HELP!!!!!
I have a 97 ss camaro with 11.5.1 pistons,215 215 cam, ported polished lt4 upgraded edelbrock heads and intake which I believe are not the stock lt4 specs,Forget crank, pistons, rods headers, slp loudmouth 3in no cats,t56,373 rearend. Only upgrade not done is the factory lt1 computer still not been changed and stock injectors. Everyone keeps saying that by changing I would only gain about 30 to 40 horse which makes me sick because that gonna run me about 500 chucks! (for a measley 30 horse)How true you guys think that is? And what would you rate horsepower for the motor and what could I do to get some serious horse wthout running nos. Car just seems FREAKIN SLOW. GT Mustangs will prolly hang with me. HELP PLEASE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

HELP a 97 Camaro owner thinks his car is a 3rd Gen!
IMO the 30 HP is low and the $500 is a little high. You do not have to replace you computer. It is programmable. You should be able to find someone to tune your car for $350-400. Once you have it tuned you will be pissed you did not do it sooner.

No the 500 is for the injectors, fuel pump, and tuning. So your saying that I should get more than 30 to 40 horse out of the upgrades? Kinda new to the late models ive always been old school and dumbfounded to the fuel injection and comp crap.

It is not that uncommon to see 15-20 HP with just a CAI and a cat back. Normally if you add a tune to it you can see another 20HP. Anytime you go away from stock you get more if its tuned. The farther from stock you are the more the tune helps. Your car will run smoother and get better gas milage. Remember the guy tuning your car does not have all the limits the GM engineers had. If they tune it on a dyno they can tell you if you need the new injectors. Or if you are prety sure you need them I would put them in before the dyno so the tune will be with them in.

By the way the 67 is freakin sweet. Wish I had one myself I wouldnt be having thse problems Id just slap a big block in her and go abuse it. Just sucks to here that your car is tapped out and if I had a old school the possibilties are endless. Id have to pull the motor and start all over with this thing!
