Default Newbie with an 87 IROC 5.7tpi...

Hey all, I am stopping in to say hey and hopefully get accepted into the Camaro nation. I just traded in a 95 dodge ram 2500 w/a 5.5in lift and some big ol tires for this beautiful 87 IROC. I am very happy with my car. I am pretty sure that I have looked on every camaro website within the past 2 days. I love it. I do have a few upgrades in mind as far as a flowmaster american thunder exhaust. I wanted the Borla or the Corsa, but with flowmasters at around $400 compared to the other two at about $800, I think im gonna have to go with the fmasters. i am still looking at intake manifolds and heads, I am not sure what to look for when buying those...Same goes with the cams. Any Ideas or suggestions that you may have will be appreciated. Thank you for reading and hope to talk to all of you soon...

If it's stock, keep it that way. It will only go up in value.

Your attachment doesn't seem to be working, so I'm guessing by your avatar that it's got the same black/gold combo as mine does. If so, f*ck you I want it D: Trade?

Hell no...lol...I just got it last Monday...My first Chevy, its mine forever...So you think I should just buy another 350 and build that to put in there and keep the stock motor in the garage to return it to stock at a later date???

Sure- a crate 350 would have a lot more power to start with than the stock anyway. GMPP's ZZ4 350 runs 355hp at 5400, 418 torque at 3600 and lists at $6700.

Compare that to 225 hp at 4400 and 330 torque at 2800 for the stock L98. And of course you'd then have a new engine with no worry of any problems coming up, 'cause of course you'll take care of it.

And then you can send that 5.7L over to me so I can use it. :v

hell, keep that 350. if your wanting a lot more power pull the motor and rework it. new heads or port and polish the current ones. bore it out a bit and get that TPI to flow more air. you can get the high flow runners and base plate. gasket match everything that way you have the least amount of turbulance building up in there. rebuild and get a good shift kit for that tranny and a little higher stall. its really easy to get some power out of the 350. if you want to go carb thats even easier. remove the computer and FI harness. slap on a new manifold and carb. change the fuel pump ( carb runs a lot less PSI than a TPI setup). or you can get a good FPR with a return. change the throttle cable and TADA! carbed 350.

oh and probably the kick down for the tranny. as well as a remote computer for that tranny. i believe they are on jeggs.

Would I be able to eliminate my computer comepletely? I really wanted a carb car cuz anything else is just an expensive headache to fix...Id like to go old school engine bay style...Where you could get in there and take a nap if you needed to. There was just so much room in them older cars...thats what i want here...

I guess you could just swap out the manifold put a carb on andplug and play msd or a HEI distributor on that would eliminate the whole coumputer issue I don't know if it will effect any of your guages and i think you will need to change out you fuel pump.
