NEED TO MAKE SURE
i just got a 3rd gen camaro from my best friends dad for about 100 bucks. now i have never owned a domestic car, much less a camaro. now i ran the Vin at the dmv.gov and it came out that this is an 86 IROC z28. how reliable is this info???
As far as checking VIN numbers for options, the Z28 hasoption code numbers. There is a forum at www.iroc-z.comTheyhave a section that lists option codes for your Camaro.Find your option codes, they should be listed on a factory sticker in your '86'scenter console.
If your '86 has a RPO code of1FP87 it has a CamaroZ-28 sport coupe package. If it has a B4Z listed then you have an IROC sport equipment package. Now, if your'86 has a 1LE RPO code you're a very lucky person. Highly unlikely, but by all means check the codes.
RPO stands for RegularProduction Order.
