I got this car from a guy for $500 bucks.Interior is pretty bad.Body is beautiful.Good tires.Has a 350 in it that runs awesome! This thing hauls ***.I have no way of knowing what year or what has been done to the motor though.theres a tiny amount of rust between the T-TOPS,and I was wondering what I can do to prevent further damage. Also when I turn on the lights the guages die,but if I turn the dimmer down they come back on.I have zero knowledge of these cars, and look forward to learning from all of you,in my quest to bring her back to life

good luck with that. nice looking car. If youre good with paint you should sand down the pillar between the t-tops, seal it, and repaint it. thats the best way to go about doing it. As per the electricity, im not sure. something goofy is going on. you will probably just want to tear it apart and look at the electrical connections.

are u talking about the paint? once the rust has started it will spread. thats pretty much a given. sosand it down to the metal as soon as you can and at least primer it. But otherwise they sell rust sealing paint. you can put a coat of this on, then put on a coat of GM matched paint. if you have a steady hand and are not real **** about how it looks (since its the t-top pillar, nobody will see) you can just use rattle can paint. remove the Ttops and mask off just about EVERYTHING. move your hand from left to right over the pillar (crossing over it, NOT moving down its length). you should get a pretty even covering. Otherwise if u know someone (or a shop) with an air painter that would be the way to go.

then u can put the Ttops back in and wet sand it. Run a hose over it as you lightly sand everything smooth. its not real hard.

Its not the actual pillar. Its under the T-TOP right next to the pillar. But I guess the same would apply

yeah, wherever it is the same applies. you can use rattlecan paint, which if you go to a paint shot they will actually color match it for you and put it in a spray can.but whenever you use this its important to always switch directions of your swing while over the paper, not over anything metal. otherwise you get pooling and lines around the edges of the area youre painting. its also important not to have a line masking off anything metal, or you will see the line when you remove the paper. so only mask off the glass and things that shouldnt get any black paint on them.

As far as your Gauge electrical issue is concerned,my 83 has the same problem andcould infact be the light switch itself. www.rockauto.com has the part very cheap,BUT thats no excuse to not check the wiring out before you replace the switch,go thru it before you screw it.but from what you mentioned,it sounds exacly like my cars switch problem.Very nice ride by the way, from what i can see for $500she was a steal!
