Default My '87 started to have problems w/starter

Hey guys! I got my dream car back in april 07! Learned how to drive manual on it! I'm madly in luv w/my car! Of course as 20 year old car it breaks on me every month mostly my clutch Had 2 replace it 2 times this summer! But now in the morning or after seating for at least a few hours it starts rite away ! But if I drive it for a lil bit and stop somewhere and try to start it in a few minutes it just klicks but won't start. It takes 3 times to start it up! So now I'm trying to keep it running while i run to a gas station It's really inconvinient! Last sat after cruising for 40 min w/my friends I stopped at a gas station and it wouldn't start at all, didn't even make any noise at all! My friends had to push it and start it up that way! The battery works just fine! Grrrr Anyone had/has similar problems??? I'd appreciate any advice! I'm really new into F-body!
Thank you so much 4 ur time guys!

I coundn't tell you exactly whatswrong, but I would just have the battery, alternator, and starter tested.
I had a similar problem, and it turned out being a bad cell in the battery. As far as two clutches I think thats probably operator error.

If you are getting a click, lets assumeit's coming from thestarter. That is a good sign that the starter is getting a signal from the ignition when you turn the key to the crank position. Lets also assume you are correct when you say your battery is good.So that pretty much narrows it down to: afaulty starter or bad positve cable connection in between the starter and batttery or badground connection between theengine blockand battery. My guess is a bad starter since this seems to happen after it starts and gets warm. Onesimple test to try is when this no crank situation happens again, have a friend hold the brakes and hold the key in the crank position as you lightlytap on the body of the starter with a small hammer. If the starter starts cranking over, thenreplaceit. That is if you can get underneath that low to the groundF-Body! When you do replace it, make sure to clean your mating surface on the engine block. This is how the starter gets its ground. Also check those GM battery cable ends at the battery for being swelled with corrosion.

Good luck and let us know what you come up with!

i had a very similar problem. Thought it was that stupid clutch safety switch. The problem didnt happen till after i put the headers on. Turns out the starter was simply over heating. This could be happening to you even if your running the stock manifolds. Check the starter as vortec mentioned. Hows your voltage? Replace that clutch safety switch if you havent already. they are cheap, and it takes about 15 seconds to replace.
