motor mount removal
hello, i'm new to the site and i had a question.
we are taking the 400 that came out of my brother's 83 z28 and putting a 350 that came from a 80 z28. well, we got new motor mounts and we cannot get the old ones out. our camaro book doesnt say anything on getting them out either, so i was wondering if someone here knew how or knew a site that had the steps on it for us. thank you for your time.

there should be a nut inside the k-member, i think i've been told its 15mm. best thing to do is wrap tape on the back side of your wrench so when its loosened you dont lose the nut.

I don't have any pictures, but I'll try to explain.
On each side there are three bolts, the nuts are 5/8. I think the bolt head is 9/16" not sure on that.
I bought a little LED flashlight to stick up inside the Kmember. This helps A LOT!
Then I just got the nuts out using a standard 5/8 wrench on the nut. A socket on the top clamp. After letting some nuts off, or what ever pentrating lube sit for about 5 mins. I got to work. The passenger is easier than the driver side. I got the wrench cleanly around about 4 of the 6. I had to get creative for the others.
Putting them back on I used electrical tape to wrap around the nut. Electrical tape worked well because of its "give" . I also used a dab of grease to stick the washer to the nut. I got good at doing them as I did three sets in a day. Just wear glasses as there is always so much rust and junk in the k member.
