How hard would it be to get an LS1 into an 89? more work than what its worth?

Anything is possible with time and money. It has been done, but with a lot of modifications.

can you ball park it? Can you use the transmission from the 89?

Depends on your engine source, but you you want a ball park guess? Well lets start at 10K and that is just that a start. Almost everything will have to be relaced in the engine bay and as mention the tranny as well. Good luck and dream on.

what if i can get the car for 900 and the LS1 with transmission for 2k.

well it would definatly make a significant drop in price. i you can do that then i would say go for it. at least im assuming you are talking about getting the 98-02 z28 or ss with an engine for 900. if you manage that then well...thats a steal

i think he means the car for 900, and buy the ls1 and tranny for 2000
