Losing acceleration and power
I have a 1987 Chevy Camaro with a 350 that I am fixing up, the car sat undrivin for a little over 3 yrs I believe. I am having a problem with losing power while i am driving. the engine will cut out and bogg down when i stepped on the throttle, the car will idle just fine but once i get on the throttle it wil cut out. i thought it was the fuel system. I have replaced the fuel pump and fuel filter *I have taken apart and cleaned carburetorbut still didnt work. I ran straight pipe, there is still pipe from the A.I.R. system that is not connected from the catalytic converter being removed. I also have a wiring harness located next to drive shaft with male end but cannot find where it plugs into. i am idleing at 1000, and the needle goes almost all the way around back to 0 when i drive. Could this problem be from the injectors putting to much fuel in the clyinders and the computer trying to fix it? Or do i need a new speed sensor and idle control motor? Please help, any information you can provide will be so greatly appreciates. I am at a loss. **
dont worry about that plug, thats for the manual trans cars. gm used the same harness. as for the acceleration issues, what fuel system do you have? when was the last time it got a tune up?
