Default Ignition Issue

Ok, truthfully I have no idea what to call the problem i have... I have a wire that runs under my dash and it looks like it is used to bypass the neutral safety switch (does that sound right?) anyway this wire sometimes gets a little warm and when it does it stops me from being able to crank my Maro... Any Idea's?

Thanks, Cole

I am assumimng you have an 88??? Is it a late 88? In the 89 Model year was the start of the passkey. You can tell by looking at the ignition key and see if it has a pelet in it near the grip or if it was replaced and bypassed then look at the lock cylinder and is it flat where you put the key in or dished in a little. If its flat then that is the passkey and some one may have bypassed that. But not seeing what you are talking about its near impossible to tell.
is the can an automatic? Then the Nuetral safety switch would be under the console on the shifter lever. If its a manual then there would be a switch on the pedal.
What color wires? A little more info would help.

Did you look at the ignition lock where the key goes in? You can tell by looking at that if its a passkey or even if the sticker is still on the window.
