Default How many were made? 1986 Z28 5 speed?

I am buying a 1986 Z28 5speed, dark blue hardtop. From what I have found it could be a pretty rare combination.

The research I have found so far is that there was 192000 Camaros made all up, only 30000 with a manual, a total of 88000 Z28's, and only 9900 in dark blue - not sure about hardtop vs targa top.

Does anyone have any idea about how many dark blue 5 speed Z28's were made in 1986?

Let me guess....After some thought, No and I don't even think GM knows because they kept no records of these combinations. Another answer is your car Rare, again NO only steak is comes Rare.

The sarcasm is somewhat unnecessary, I am just curious.

There aren't many of these cars in Australia, so there is very little information - hence I turned to the internet for some research - what is wrong with that?

I don't really care if it is rare or not, I will buy it anyway, but from what I found on Camaro sites the combination seems to be a little uncommon.

Sorry about that, didn't know you were from down under. But really, 3rd gen cars in the states are not Rare. Certain people think some are, but I do not.

Quinny, the numbers that you have found are spot on with what i have. i'm getting these from classic industries, a very reputable company when it comes to camaros. and 9900 out of 192000 is pretty rare in my book, and based on the amount of these cars that have been wrecked, that number gets smaller and smaller. sounds like a very nice car, good luck with it if you decide to purchase.

While it's impossible to figure out exactly how rare it is, using the laws of probabibilty, we can figure out that, when a Camaro was being built in the factory, it had approximately 1/274 chances of turning out with those specifications; from which we can infer that there were 703 built with those specifications in 1986.

But that's just probability. That number could be totally wrong and we'd have no way of knowing.

Thanks guys. I realise now that I will never get an exact number. That said, there are not many Camaros in Australia, so given that the combination is somewhat uncommon, I dare say that it is unlikely to be too many others like it in Australia.
