are you comming to a complete stop before taking the car out of gear? NOT pushing the clutch in since you need to do that to come to a stop, but actually taking the car out of gear before stopping? If so, just wait till your stopped before switching gears.

My 86 IROC Z28 does the same exact thing. I just put it into 5th then into reverse, with no problem. I have no idea why it does this either.

i have the same problem with my 86. It has something to do with a pressure plate or w/e. If you put it in 1st THEN put it in reverse, it wont grind, or at least it doesnt for me.

I put it in 5th and then it goes right into reverse. It's something about stopping the gears; either that or you can wait in neutral for 5+ seconds for them to stop.

there shouldnt be a synchro for reverse, should there? try double clutching it first. clutch in, out, in and hold for 3 seconds then put it in. my geo does it all the time and needs double clutch for reverse
