You guys always have great advice on just about everything, so, here's the lastest:

My 92 350 is a TBI system, and is acting funny, I know it's a computer problem, b/c all the mechanical stuff has just been overhauled.

Symptoms:

She runs rich.

Every time I start the car, it has this period of "warm-up" where the idle jumps up, and then bogs down, and then does it over and over again, for about five seconds. After that, it'll idle in park just fine, no problems.

The car REALLY doesn't like reverse, if I don't give it a little gas, it'll stall out.

Going down the road, cruising, there's no problem, but if I leave it in drive and stop at a light, it'll stall out.

When it's cold, she'll idle really high, and gradually come down and run normal after a little bit.

I'm confident in everything mechanical, it might be a vacuum leak.

I've removed the A/C system and the Smog pump assembly.

I have no idea what it might be, any input you guys have would be greatly appreciated.

 

if it was a vacuum leak, it would be a constant high idle. it sounds more like the idle air control valve is stuck or inoperative. i had a bad iac valve in my 305 tpi, but it would only stall comming off highway ramps. any other time it was ok, it just had one bad spot. i think theyre only about $30 to replace, but you can try cleaning yours first

 

What all has been replaced or overhauled? Was the TBI unit rebuilt?

 

The motor was torn down to a short block and everything from the headgaskets up was cleaned and replaced, I didn't do a whole lot with the TBI, i just stripped everything apart and cleaned it. I'll look into the IAC when I get back home after x-mas.

On that note, merry christmas, even though it was technically yesterday.
