Oh crap, for some reason I thought you had said earlier that your carb didn't have sight plugs. I would have had you do this a while ago...
You don't set the float levels by eyeballing them. Put a rag on the intake manifold right below the sight plugs. Remove one plug, and with the engine running, adjust the needle seat up or down as needed, till the gas juuuuust starts to dribble out of the hole. Button that one down, then do the other one. Now your floats are set right.

Well it's pretty damn hard for me to set the floats with the engine running when I have to keep a hawk on the throttle to keep it alive lol. Unless you want me to set the floats while the motor is at about 1.5k rpm, which is the only place it will run by itself lol.

You can try that. Or run the engine, shut it down, then remove one plug at a time to see where the level is. It'll be more trial and error till you get it just right. I put clear sight plugs on mine which makes it easier, plus I can constantly monitor the float levels.

you have electric fuel pump, make it run continuosly and then you can check and adjust float level engine off,its safer.have you adjusted timing set it by ear first just to make it in ballpark and idle, then check floats, then time it then check air fuel ratio, then reset curb idle then have fun

I don't have an air/fuel ratio gauge I might invest in one... lol. But I got the idle figured out!! silly me didn't check the other side of the vacuum brake light and it had a huge slice in it, so my mechanic friend was right. It idles just fine now! Just need to add another radiator fan to keep cool, it's playing around the high side of 220 which is where I do not want to be so I will be purchasing a dual fan setup here pretty quick. Are pushers better than pullers? or does it not really matter? I would prefer a pusher to open up the engine compartment a little more, but that's not really a big deal so if a puller is better I'll go ahead and do that. One thing is for sure... it's a whole new feel driving the carbed 350 around than a fuel injected 305

Timing is set at 10 degrees. I think I'm going to get an all aluminum radiator with my tax refund and run a dual fan setup on it as pullers as you recommended. I didn't know which was better lol. Anywho, just gotta wait on some money then she'll be back on the road OH!! I haven't tried, but I'm pretty sure my stock hood won't fit under my setup :O so what is a good place to pick up a cowl induction hood?

Mine is just a stock replacement from autozone. Plastic tanks and all lol. But before I get a whole new radiator I'm gonna try some different fan combos and see where that takes me

yeah but how many cores you got some came with one core some up to three cores,if you have just one core do yourself a favor and upgrade before you destroy all your hard work.
