damn.... that just sounds like a pain in the @$$!!! not a bad idea. i had no problem with the work and fabrication that needed to be done but im starting to see that its not worth doing with a 307. well i guess ima just drive the buick and save for a used chevy 350. would anybody no if $300 would be enuff for a chevy 350 and a 350 trans??

I'd have to agree with the majority here. If you are going to go through the hassle of a V-6 to V-8 conversion, you should definitely go the SBC 350 route. Having just completed a V-6/V-8 swap as well as an Auto-to-stick conversion, the process isn't that difficult if you are mechanically inclined, have some patience, and budget more money than you think you will need. You can get a large majority of the parts you need from a 82-92 V8 camaro/firebird/Trans Am out of a wrecking yard. You will need motor mounts, exhaust system, radiator, all engine accessories and associated brackets from the 350, and an electrical schematic for your 2.8 V6 MPI set-up. Depending on where you live, $300 should get you a motor or tranny, but probably not both. Best of luck to you and your swap.

I had an 87 Cadillac with the OLDS 307...whopping 140HP. This car was gorgeous but couldn't get out of it's own way. It had an electronicly controlled 4 barrel Q-jet. The engine is sound mechanically...should have the roller cam too. But a complete DOG for power. It might be a good start as long as the V6 is shot though. All the fab work will be done to step up to a 350 chevy when you get the bucks.

Default OLds 307

I had one of the 307 v8's in a 84 model olds. It was pretty sluggish so I pulled out the 307 and put a 455 ci It bolted to the same tranny that was on the 307 and it ran great. Maybe something to think about...
