Default ecm

Hey im new to this and know very little bout cars( if i can take it off i can put it bake on) i recently found an ecm for an 89 iroc with a super chip. would it be compatible with my 88 iroc? the 88 is an a/t but im not sure if that has any affect on the ecm. granted i could just buy a super chip but the one i found is a very good deal. thanks for whatever advice i get

The ECM for automatic and manual transmissions are configured differently, being that the one for automatic has to be able to control the TCC. Why not just change the chip, instead of changing out the whole computer. Performance chips for you car come in two varieties, one changes out the entire MEMCAL, and the other is used in addition to the stock MEMCAL. I have no idea what your "super chip" claims to do, but in my experience performance chips do not accomplish much, except to induce driveability problems.
