i just picked up a 85 z28 5.0 an the kid i got it off of said it needs a distributor module i have no idea where it is or what would be the best way to fix this problem any help would be appreciated thanks

 

i believe he was talking about the ignition module. its inside the distributor.

 

Are you getting a no spark problem to indicate the module might be the problem? And yes, the module is under the distributor cap. It's a black, flat rectangular-ish part with two electrical prongs at an angle, that the harness plugs to. If you do replace the module, don't forget to put the silicone grease (supplied with a new module) on the metal part on the back mounting side.
