i have an 86 tpi 305. i get 13.5 mpg going to school/work as well as cruising and street racing. if i take it slow and drive carefully, i get about 10 mpg. no lies. for some reason, its more effecient to launch hard and then let it coast for about half a mile to let it get back down to the speed limit.

Our Camaro gets about 14 mpg cruising around town: it has a pretty rough idle and sort of just pours fuel through to keep itself running at low speeds. On the highway it gets about 26.
The vette (C5R is just basically a stroked and bored LS engine ) is quite amazing: despite the 427 cubes, the SCr, etc., it gets 21 around town and 27-28 on the highway cruising at near legal speeds (say 75) with the AC on.
But our milesage champ is the Porsche, which averaged 30.8 mpg on a recent short highway trip (Raleigh to Charlotte and back): not bad for a 175 mph performance car with an auto trans.

Highway 101 is on my way to work. I would be lucky to get 15mpg, even on highway. It sucks. Something is wrong with my car, idles rough too. Any ideas?

Something's wrong there. I've got an '87 TPI 305 and I average between 20 and 24 mpg, depending on where I'm driving.

I recently checked my mileage on the freeway and did quite well.
Car is stock except for being lowered and having a Flowmaster catback.
Pretty sure it has 2:73 gears and I am running fairly skinny and hard Goodyear 225/50/16 tires.
I pulled off 29 3/8 mpg @ 65-70 mpg rolling up Interstate 5.
'93 LT1 Z28.
