Alternator bracket help
On my 383 stroker I have double hump heads and they don’t have the holes for the accessories and I am running a tunnel ram intake and it don’t have the hole on top for the alternator bracket. I got a lower mount alternator bracket from a car show couple of years ago and its for a short style water pump so after getting a short style and pulleys, put it all on and put the motor back in, noticed that the bracket is going to hit the steering when I turn right so now only left hand turns. (not racing NASCAR now)
The only brackets I found on jegs are the kind for an electric water pump. Tho I would love to have an electric water pump I just don’t have the $710 they are asking to spend on one.
is there any other options

Since you have short w/pump, pulleys, you're almost there.
You could get drvr side exh header mount, the one fitting over #1 cyl tube and 1 inch long header bolts, and F-bracket and the long upper bracket.
The long upper bracket attaches to the upper drvr side w/pump double ended bolt as it did pre-'66 vehicles.
Get a longer belt.

Since you picked up and are using a lower alternator bracket for the short water pump setup, is it safe to say you have the brackets as described above? That's what your story implies. Or, did you get something "different" from how a stock alternator mounts? I'm curious what on your steering movement is interfering with the alternator. Can you post some pictures?
Ohhhh, you have a low mounted alternator, why didn't you say so!
What's in the way up top, is it a hood clearance issue or other accessories in the way?
Mounted up top on the passenger side will put the alternator to the top of the valve cover, if hood clearance is the issue.
On the drivers side, it has to stick up and out more to clear the valve cover. I have mine tucked in nice and tight:

If going with the long water pump/passenger side alternator, you can use the bracket I posted above (post #2).
If keeping it on the drivers side, you use the bracket setup that mounts to the exhaust manifold/header: Small Block Chevy 3 Piece Chrome Alternator Bracket Kit for Short Water Pump | eBay
