92 Z28 Convertible Door
Hello I'm New to the forum and I have a problem with the door on my grandfather's Camaro.
THE DOOR WON'T CLOSE!!
Theres a little plastic/rubber piece in the door that been "flipped up" and will not let the door close. I opened the door, sat in my dream car, closed it.
Got in the passenger door, opened it, closed, but when I re-opened it, I haerd a "ping." Now this thing is in the way.
This car is about to be mine and its in mint condition! I want to fix it with out him knowing in the first place!!
HELP!!!!

Are you talking about the latch mechanism in the door?
Sounds like the latch may have rotated into the "closed" position. And now it's smacking the striker on the door jamb?
Lift up on the outside door handle while trying to pry and rotate the latch back open. If it doesn't click and stay in the "open" position, then your latch is messed up.
I have a feeling the latch may be bad, because they usually don't close shut on their own.

my old trans am did this every once in a while. I would lift the handle and pull the locking mechanism and spray with some wd40 to keep it working for a little while.
