Wentto get my car smogged in CA and it failed due to High HC and CO levels. Its a TBI 5.0 with aftermarket headers and fuel pump. Here are the numbers: RPM 1533 / CO2 11.6 / O2 2.9 / HC 216 / CO 1.7 / NO 495.

Max for HC is 93, forCO is .5 an NO is 772.

So any help would be appreciated. Thinking maybe O2 sensor but would like to know some more just so I'm not throwing parts at it. Thanks, Jason.

 

I had a similar problem here in AZ, although mine was due to a swap. I found that retarding the timing, making sure I was lean (cabureated), and having clean oil, new plugs and clean air filter got me close....a "loose" vacuum line got me over the hump last year. Make sure you aren't putting too much fuel in or you will never pass.

 

man im glad i live in SC, no emissions testing (although i know smoggy cars are bad for the planet)
