Okay, its not a fuel problem. Even with putting starting fluid / gas in it still doesn't fire. So I'm assuming its the coil, or ICM, or distributor. I will look into those things tomorrow. I'm going to start with the ICM and coil. Thanks for all your help. Ill let you know what happens.

UPDATE: I took the ICM out of the car and took it in to the auto store. They tested it and sure enough it failed the test. So I ordered another one, it comes in tomorrow. I will install it tomorrow and let you know if that fixes the problem!

Okay guys,

I replaced the ICM today and it seems to be running great, with only one little hic up. There is an intermittent miss. I'm not sure whats causing it, but it seems completely random. Could this be caused by the coil? Or maybe bad plugs or wires? I'm sure it could be a variety of things. What should I check into first?

If your engine hasn't had a tune up in a long time, it will probably thank you for replacing the plugs, wires, cap & rotor. It could be any one of those causing the miss, but I doubt it's the coil doing that. My 91 had a slight miss, and the new cap & rotor did the trick. I did replace everything, but ran the engine after each item was replaced to satisfy my curiosity.

What size plug wires should I use? It has really big 8.5mm ones on it now, but didn't know if those were necessary. Would the regular 7 or 7.5 mm work? And any recommendation on spark plugs?

So the wires have already been replaced, do they look old? Stock replacement wires will be just fine, yours isn't a hi-perf engine!

No its definitely not a hi performance engine. Lol. And after closer inspection I notice that the wires do look new, BUT one of them is a smaller wire... ? not sure how that happened, but its a 7.5mm and the others are 8.5mm. So I will change those and the plugs and distributor cap and rotor.

What if the part of the distributor, under the rotor, is rusty? Should I replace it? Take it off and clean it? Or is it just fine?

If the pickups are rusty or corroded, you can clean them with a tiny wire brush if you have one, or with wet-or-dry sandpaper (dry not wet).
