anyone know if you can change the electrical pull down on the rear hatch of the '88 Z28 to a regular type lock system?

simple fix, the motor in mine was removed to make room for the stereo system(5 gallons of the fuel tank is also gone) i came up with an idea. since the latch lides up and down, find the point where the hatch is shut tight and drill and bolt it. wallah. cheap easy and hidden
