I own an 84 Z28 with 5.0 H.O. and I believe it came factory with the 4 speed transmission but all the books claim the only options were an auto or 5 speed manual. Is it possible the 4 speed was factory equipment ?

 

Yes the 4-sp was offered in early 3rd gen cars before the 5-sp was introduced.

 

i think that 84 was the first year for the 5-speed i think that 4-speeds only came in 82 and 83 but not positive

 

1982 is only year on the base sport coupe that had a 4-speed as per Standard Catalog of Camaro 1967-2002 isbn 0-87349-495-4. So your cars a freak or someone put it in there. Check and see if the torque arm is bolted to the transmission or to an adapter that is bolted to it.

It was either a T10 or Saginaw. Both my dad's 83 and 85 had the T5
