Awesome. I've heard that it shifts better than the TH400 too.

Im also going to settle for 300-350HP at the wheels so that it's a bit nicer on the street. It'll eventually get more because i might put a blower on it in a few years. But for now i'll settle for 300-350HP at the wheels. Im going to rip the block out soon and see if it's still good. If it is i'll rebuild it...otherwise i'll probably buy a crate engine.

that is a much more attainable HP number.

as far as trannys go, you say you "heard" the 350 shifts better than the 400? that is crap so don't believe it. you have them both built by the same guy and if you want, they wil both shift the same. also, the 350 is nowhere near as strong as the 400. I have ripped through "built" 350s many times but I"ve yet to kill a 400 on the street yet. the ONLY darwback of the 400 is the HP that it robs but people will say that the only drawback to the 350 is the HP is robs over a stick

The 400 is the stronger trans, but, the 350 has a lower first gear. alot of old school rock rigs use them for a better crawl ratio. and you can run alot of power through a TH 350 if you do it right. I personaly prefer the 400 I have one in each of my 3/4 ton 4WD Chevy's. My Z has a BW super T10 and wil hopefully be getting a Kiesler 5 spd soon.

The 350 will do a good enough job espically if You go through it and have new performance clutches, bands, valve body etc. installed. But for the long haul, the 400 is the dude. It's overall a much stronger trans and the difference in power loss is minimal. The 1st gear difference is 2.52-1 for the 350 and 2.48-1 for the 400, virtually the same for all practical purposes. In the aftermarket, You can get different gear ratios ( TCI for one ) for either trans, but You don't need to go there.

I think i'll stick with the TH350 until it breaks. Then i'll do a swap with a TH400.
