my dad is giving me his 76 nova and says all I need for it is a new flex plate. I have a flex plate left over from my engine build for my camaro (HA! brought it round.) here is the question: The flex plate is for a internally balanced 350. I need to know if the 305 is internal also. If I remember correctly the only externally balanced small block is the 400. Will this plate work and is there any way to tell by looking?

 

it should work. i think there was a change around 86-81 from the 2 to 1 peice rear main seal. i was told the flexplate was different. otherwise, pull it off and check
