RE: 305 horsepower
RS stock L03 305 TBI had 170 hp/255 tq. The best mods would be headers and 3' catback exhaust. Not what you would consider a performance motor. Besides what was mentioned I would forget about it and just go with appearance mods and have a good looking car. If you want performance, you should get a 350tpi car.[sm=chairshot.gif]

200 isnt alot for a v8 anymore, my 94 ford ranger had 210 HP stock from the 4.0 v6 it had.

everybody downs the 305. mine is pushing close to 300 HP. EVERYBODY builds a 350. why not be different and build something thats original. just my opinion. sick

RE: 305 horsepower
Got to agree the 305 isnt a bad engine I got one in a 95 4x4 that has 225,000 miles on it and never been overhauled. The problem with building the 305 is valve shrouding because of the small bore(it has the same stroke as a 350). You can overcome that but it takes money to do it . There is a car turning 11:50 with a 305 on the Quaker City race track site and I know a guy who was turning over 10,000rpm in one. I had a wore out one in my 79 we changed the cam intake put headers on it ran 4:56 gears it ran 9:35 in the 1/8th. A 283 would also be a unique option this one ran 8:23 in the 1/8

RE: 305 horsepower
Speaking of unique engines for a camaro, I just might have hooked up a deal for a 327 for my 81Z. Im going to know more about it next week. Brand new from a performance shop in my area. Actually the best one in all of Alberta. (Davenport Motors) for thos who hav heard of it. So the 350 is on hold. 327's are cooler anyways, just more rare and expensive.
