always plan to go over budget and not within the allotted time. it always happens. and fixing the 305 wouldnt be as rewarding either

Yeah I guess I did learn a lot doing this swap, even if I didn't do much of the actual work myself.

I guess the next thing is gonna be to see which of my Camaros is faster, lol

the ls1 will get better fuel economy, but the sbc will be cheaper to maintain and modify

ho boy, I haven't even tried to add it up. I think I said $3000 originally? I'm definitely more than double that now, and I haven't even paid for the swap itself yet.

Sounds good man- I'll run it stock for a bit and see how it goes, maybe I'll get lucky and it'll be ok, y'think~?

Thanks again for all your help, guys. It's gonna feel great to get back in that driver's seat again.

and what youre going through right now is why i bought a crate engine. however, it is seeping oil at the front of the oil pan, and the pan itself is very rusty. trying now to get it through warranty for a new pan

Got the estimate for the last part of the work to be done with the '87 Camaro. For removal of the original engine, assembly and installation of the new engine, I'm looking at around $4000. I asked if there was anything I could do to bring that down, the guy said if I finished putting the engine together it'd be around $2k. I don't get how it costs $2000 to put a set of heads and an intake on an engine, but it means I am making plans to bring the engine back home to finish putting it together before I get it installed.

There's gonna be a delay of about two weeks to get that done since my helper is going on holidays right away, but since I am no longer dying to drive a Camaro again, I can wait, lol.

'sides, I still have to wait for my chip to arrive from pcmforless, it's been stuck in the mail since Canada Post decided it didn't want its employees to work anymore.
