NO! That cam is wrong in every single way... First off its a mechanical flat tappet cam... Your TPI has an OE hydraulic roller cam. Second, it's WAY TOO BIG! I don't know if you have a 305 or 350, but either way it's much too aggressive as it sounds like your motor is stock. That cam is designed for oval track racing where the RPM's never drop below 6k. It WILL NOT work with your induction system, nor your heads, torque converter, OD and lock up transmission, or anything else in your combination for that matter.

i am wondering what was in my car as it sits? i think i will take it to a local speed shop and ask them what the specs are if they can tell by the numbers. and the tpi ran this just fine, i also figured i would have to get the computer reprogrammed

Doesn't matter, that cam is still too big for a mostly stock 350. You would need at least 12:1 compression and race fuel to run that cam, as well as stronger internals and way better heads. Then you still have the problem with the TPI. You would have to scrap it and run a carb'ed setup. It's not as simple as reprogramming the ECM.

At this point you're then making enormous amounts of horsepower, have 5 grand into the engine, and need to get a new transmission, rear end, beef up the unibody, and it still won't be streetable in the least.

You need a much less aggressive cam.

yep, that cam is race only. a co-worker of mine runs on similar in his 358 sprint car. it never sees revs below 6500 and has an individual throttle body fuelie setup. im running tpi with a 383 stroker, but i have large enough injectors and an adjustable fpr to help. i know its going to run like crap until i have the computer completely remapped. the ecm can only compensate for so much

I see that now, but the cam I pulled out of it seems pretty stout, I'm hoping I can get some specs off.it to see if I should run that with the 1.6s, and sub frame connectors are goin in right after this, trans will be upgraded after I blow this one lol

Ok I found a nice crane energizer hydraulic solid cam, 272-h10 454 lift 216 @.050 272 advertised, 1600-5400 rpm range, matched with some 9.5:1 pistons, and 1.6 rockers, does this seem better?

Yes! That's a MUCH better combination. However the 1.6 rockers won't benefit you at all if you end up using the stock swirl port heads. You'll probably lose quite a bit of top end due to lack of flow.
