1986 Camaro knocking from bottom of engine
#41
The heads were removed from the car and completely disassembled prior to soaking. The valves were removed and the seals were replaced as well as the seat surfaces done with valve grinding compound. I installed new head gaskets, intake gaskets, exhaust gaskets, and head bolts. If anything fell into the bottom it had to be from the area around the lifters. I got as much as i could see out, but there was so much rocky gunk that small pieces had to fall into the engine. I did remove the oil pan as well and cleaned it out prior to start up.

Well i started pulling the 305. I'm pulling it with the trans so i can replace the damaged flex-plate, plus its just easier that way. I think i got alot done in 3 hours considering this is my first time doing this. Got all the electrical connectors disconnected and labeled and everything off the front of the engine. Just got to remove the lower mount bolts, exhaust pipes, drain the trans, remove the cross-member, and disconnect the drive shaft. Everything on top is done. Just waiting on the engine hoist which i hope to pick up from my friend tomorrow.
