Default won't fire up - got some codes

car died while driving home the other day. wasn't electrical, most likely fuel problem. big surpirse!

she turns over, but doesn't ever start.

here are the codes i got from it ;
code 24 - vehicle speed sensor (VSS) open or short circuit problems

code 34 - MAF or MAP sensor.

i got a MAF at the junkyard a couple months ago. who knows if it's bad again.

Oh also my owners manual says the MAP sensor wasnt used on 89 and earlier MPFI V6 models. mine is 89 V6. I don't know what MPFI means though.

why oh why do my problems always have to be sensors! so expensive!

Any suggestions?

TIA guys. always come through for me!

MPFI is multi port fuel injection. To rule out (or in) a fuel supply problem, have you tried priming the TB either with gas or starting fluid to see if the engine will fire up momentarily?

Pull the air filter cover off and spray starting fluid in towards the throttle body and see if it runs for a couple seconds

wouldn't start when primed first. will try the starting fluid approach and report back
