what the .... ? 2.8
ok... my camaro was working great except for a slight oild leak... turns out it was the intake manifold gaskets... i took it to be replaced at a mechanic shop... i get it back and they tell me the thing that controls my idle rpm is broken... but they said it would work still... i drive it off and i have to keep the gas on at all times or it stalls out... its AUTOMATIC??? so i tightened up the throttle cable and it sems to have fixed the stalling but... it idles at about 1000 rpm and it bounces around like crazy... it goes just short of stalling then jumps up to about 1500 and then back down... whats the deal?

RE: what the .... ? 2.8
id take it back to them and have them fix it, without it costing you anything since they were the ones that messed it up and if they give you any problems just tell them you will call your local news channel about it and report them to the better business bureau

Bring it back. you didnt bring it to them to "mess with the timing" and no grease monkey mechanic is qualified to do that. Dealer reflashes or speed shop dyno work ONLY. otherwise they can damage your motor. if they charged u for the timing thing demand yoru money back or else they suffer the same consequences mentioned above.
this sort of thing pisses me off so bad. I hate shops that will break stuff and try to get away with it. Its why its nice to have an obviously heavily modified car some times. Ive brought my car into regular shops a couple times and u can see the gears turning in these guys heads like they want to try to pull something but.... look at the car... look at me... and decide they wont get away with it lol. I would love for some Dbag to say he had to "mess with my timing". Id just look at him and tell him "you ******, that timing cost me 200 dollars in dyno time and a 500 dollar tuning software, I believe now you owe ME!"

RE: what the .... ? 2.8
Yes it was built at the same time as some of the 3.1s. A whole 135HP of furry. I dont see why they would mess with the timing in the first place. Its not that hard to remove the manifold on the 2.8. I would say maybe a air leak behind the TP or the manifold gasket or possible a vacuum line like spec said.
