Default oil pan sound?

Ok, so I just got this 1992 RS...180,000 MILES ON IT..QUESTION, there is a knocking sound that I believe is coming from the oil pan.Thought it was a pushrod but no harsh sounds were heard using a stethascope.I changed oil, plugs, wires and redone the timing(the guy I bought it from had a bad module in it,2 plug wires in the wrong place on the distributor, and it wasn't even clamped down. There was a slight crease near the drain plug I noticed when I changed oil and filter, not big but I can't tell if the pan is hitting something on the bottom of the engine.Oh btw,i have great oil pressure all this time..any help would be great as I left my 1991 Eclipse for the Camaro.

A low end knocking noise through the pan? Rod knock or piston slap, caused by excessive engine wear (high miles). A rebuild or replacement is in your car's future. A slight crease in the oil pan isn't going to hurt anything. The pan would have to be severely crushed for your crankshaft counterweights to be hitting it. I would also say that your engine isn't performing it's best, since the knock sensor would be picking up the knocking you hear, and retarding the timing.
