Default new car needs desperate help

the car barley turns over, but when it does i hear this load banging sound, almost like BANG BANG BANG BANG like metal on metal. the next problem is, is that the car started loosing speed on the freeway and the oil temp started getting red and bright red, then i started loosing speed even after i down shifted and hit the gas. other than that the cars in good shape, but the key i got from the owner doesnt lock the doors or even unlock the trunk.

any help would be great.
the engine is a 2.6 v6 i think

in other words from the head gasket down. well my old roommate had to do one to his eclipse...doing the work ourselves other than the machining it was...$500-800 i believe. not sure though.

if you have rod knock then your crank might need some machining. you might need a new rod. you wont know til you pull the oil pan and look. you might be able to do it cheaper but idk for sure.

Just buy a new engine, it'll cost the same... 500-800 for a rebuild or 1000 for a complete new engine hmmmmmm........ I wander which one sounds smarter????? Next time when you hear a knock stop immediately.... Just CS for you next time.... Machining is another $300 job on top of the price for parts.... 2.8 V6 cheap easly found new 3 year unlimited warranty, mean if you break a part its covered.... If I can find where i bought mine from I'll post it.
