I have a '85 camaro. 5spd 2.8 liter mpfi. Check engine light came on. Car will hold idle after giving it gas. Tried my obd scanner and paperclip grounding. Won't read any codes. Any suggestions??? Is the ECM bad? car was running fine all up untill now.
Has a 2.8 out of 87 firebird. with 85k on motor and 135k on body. new distributer, cap, rotor, plugs, fuel filter pcv valve, waterpump, timing gear/chain. timing was set. i'm at a loss here

 

are you sure you did the paperclip trick correctly ? weird that the light is on but wont show any codes

 

I've used my obd scanner successfully on the car before. Now nothing gets the computer to respond to that port. Any clue???

 

take it to a local shop, they ussually dont charge for pulling codes and have great scanners
