The ABS light goes one for a number of different reasons. The best thing is to get it scanned and see what the complaint is. When the ABS light is lit, the ABS is shut down.

What Pete said
Also did the light come on with the different size tires? Was the size difference a lot? It could have been calibrated for the different size and now the computer knows there is a difference in the readings between the front and rear wheels. But a scan will give the correct answer.

Also, for future refernce, you might want to post your questions on your car in the 4th gen section.

Grounding and some electrical issue might need to be checked, or replacing the whole ABS Control Module would do the fix.

My ABS hasn't worked in seven months.

I know this is an old thread but if anyone has an abs inop light on, you could try what I did after a little research I found that the most common reason that this light stays on is because the bulbs in the third brake light in the back are burnt out. I had this problem, and after reading about this checked my third brake light and shore enough it was out, went to Advance Auto got the bulbs, replaced, and now no more light! Hope this helps someone with the same problem. Oh yeah this is a 4th Gen fix.
