abs inop light
does anyone know why the abs light goes on and how to fix it? i have a 97 rs, the light only comes on occassionally and if i turn the car off and start it again the light goes off. i used to have different size tires on the back but now they are all the same size. thanks for your help

Also did the light come on with the different size tires? Was the size difference a lot? It could have been calibrated for the different size and now the computer knows there is a difference in the readings between the front and rear wheels. But a scan will give the correct answer.

Grounding and some electrical issue might need to be checked, or replacing the whole ABS Control Module would do the fix.
I know this is an old thread but if anyone has an abs inop light on, you could try what I did after a little research I found that the most common reason that this light stays on is because the bulbs in the third brake light in the back are burnt out. I had this problem, and after reading about this checked my third brake light and shore enough it was out, went to Advance Auto got the bulbs, replaced, and now no more light! Hope this helps someone with the same problem. Oh yeah this is a 4th Gen fix.
