Default 2.8 replaced with 3.1 DEGR

i have an 89 camaro that has been engine swapped with a 91 3.1 im guessing because the engine has a digital EGR valve. i dont have the hook up nor does my computer, i think. The engine idles rough, and trys to die after deceleration which are common problems with a failing EGR or in my situation just not hooked up.

I was wondering if i switched to a 91 computer if there would be any problems or if it would work properly with all my other sensors?

not having the egr hooked up wont cause it to die on deceleration. that sounds more like a bad iac valve (ive dealt with it). also, the rough idle. does it sound like it has a large cam in it? if the egr is stuck partially open, it will have a vacuum leak into the exhaust system. it will cause a rough idle, hard brake pedal, and a few other things. again, ive dealt with that before as well

thank you for the reply. Also, none of my vacuum lines are hooked up. im in the middle of working out the mix on the diagrams between the 2.8 parts and the 3.1 engine. its def not the cam. its just a slight rough idle, and whenever i first got the car i took the IAC off and cleaned it real well because i thought it was sticking. Is there any way for me to check the IAC before just replacing it?

a lack of vacuum lines being installed would also cause issues, whether they are plugged or not. a critical one would be fuel pressure regulator. im not quite sure on testing the iac out of the engine other than removing it from the manifold and have someone turn the key to see if it moves or not. does the a/c work? if so, turn it on and off and see if the rpms drop or dip then return.

yes. the ac works but it does not blow cold air, i think the lines have a leak. and ok, i will check the IAC and let you know.
