Default 2.8 internal balance question

I have an 88 2.8 MPFI, 5spdthat burns almost as much oil as gas LOL. After searching locally for several months I came across a decent running 2.8 MPFIfrom an 85 firebird but ismated to an automatic trans. I've read were 88 and up were neutral balance engines and 87s and down were externally balanced. Can someone tell me if this is true and will I haveimbalance problems using my 88 manualflywheel onto the 85 engine? My future goal is to swap in a TPI v8 when a good donor becomes available as well as funds. Thanks for any replies.

Default RE: 2.8 internal balance question

there shouldnt bea problem swapping engines. if what you say is true about the balancing, there may be a slight bit of a vibration, but nothin to be concerned about. and if memory serves me correctly, those 2.8's are not the smoothest running engine out there tobegin with....
