Default Transmission Conversion?

I have a 1985 Camaro Z28 that is set up with an automatic transmission. If I have a clutch assembly, is it possible to convert it to a manual? I've always wanted a manual, and since I'm going to be giving this car a complete overhaul as it is, I didn't know if I could convert it to a manual.

Alright, let me rephrase that. I know with enough money and time, it's possible to convert it to a manual. My question is: Is it worth the time and money to do so?

Hell yea it is, lots of people do it. For the transmission itself tho, it depends on how the car is driven, and what mods you have done. If your making some decent power and like to have fun with it, your going to want to go with a t56. Much much stronger than a t5, but also cost a lot more $$. If your car is relatively stock, and you go easy on her, a t5 should suit your needs. It all depends on what you want to do with it.

As for whether or not its worth it, you have to be the judge. Depends on how much you like driving stick.

T56 is going to be a little spendy (unless you do used). T56 essentially adds another over-drive from a typical 5 speed. If he goes with a 5 speed, he still gets the extra under-drive vs the 700R4 that I'm assuming he has in it now (he just doesn't get the 2nd over-drive that the T56/Magnum has).

You can go even stronger than what some of the used T56's are by going with a TKO500/600. Yeah, it's a 5 speed, but it is a strong 5 speed . Check this link out: ProFit TKO Installation Kit for 1982-92 Gen 3 F-body (Camaro/Firebird)

Contact them, see if they have additional parts to convert from auto to manual. Keisler is another option to look at. Although they don't advertise they have "PerfectFit" kits as of this time for 3rd gens, they may be able to help you out.
