Default new guy here

hey guys i have an 87 iroc with a 305tpi, 5spd, and a disc break rearend out of an 89, it has a 1le package on it but it needs some work but cant afford a whole bunch of new parts (il spend money if i have to) so im buying a rusty 82 camaro for $30 off a friend with a mildly built 350 and 4spd trans and drum break rearend with limited slip and 3:73 gears im selling what ever i cant use for funds towards my 87. my questions are. will the tpi off my 305 fit the 350 and what will be needed? (not sure if its the original 350) the pinion gear and spider teeth bit the dust so will the axles and gears out the 82 fit the 89 i have in my 87? or should i just put the entire 82 rearend in until i can afford a rebuild for my 89 rearend?

as far as the tpi goes the lower intake won't work. You have an 87 motor that used the high back style heads, easily identified by the 4 bolts on the valve cover down the center. You can probably find (for cheap) a pre 87 tuned port intake for low back style heads. These heads had the valve cover bolt holes on the outer rails of the heads. The tubes and upper plenum will work with the older style lower intake. Also you'll need the correct computer prom chip for a 350. The 305 chip will give you hell. I've gone through it!! I would just put the 82 rear end in the car. If your planning on the changing the axles and carrier you'll have to set backlash, the crush sleeve and basically re-set up that whole rear end. run the 82 till you can have the 89 rebuilt. If you have anymore questions feel free to ask me.
