Sounds simple right? Well I'm looking for a 6 speed to bolt on to my summit racing 355 in my '91. The 5 speed thats in it just can't handle the power. It still has the 305 transmission. It's a standard chevy small block. I've consulted a chevy dealership and all they would really tell me is that an LS1 tansmission wont bolt on and an LT1 transmission is too long and i would need a shorter drive shaft and a shifter linkage or somethin like that. Im looking for a cut and dry bolt on with little to no modifications to the car at a reasonable price. Would I be better off just buying new gears and rebuilding the 5 speed or just get a 6 speed? Any suggestions?
