Default 92 RS suggestions?

I got a 92 RS and could use some ideas. I want to get a 454 and produce anywhere from 400-500HP (carburated). Transmission perferably Automatic with a B&M ratchet shifter. Pretty much hot roddin.
So what does the forum have for ideas.

I know that the seasoned vets have some good info for engine internals and what tranny would "hold up" best for my purpose.

do you like to spend money needlessly?, 454 is old school junk man. heavy slow to rap up unless you spend megga bucks, they will come apart around 6k unless $$$$ you would be better invested if you get a stock 5.3, turbo it! and then 450 true hp on the ground is easily attainable, for a lot less $$$ and more dependable; plus it will rap like a missile climbing into orbit.

personally I am somewhat old school, I like the feel of a small block, so I am putting an LT1 in my 1991 Vert project

Im looking into big blocks because i believe you have more room to expand when dealing with higher horse power. To be honest, if I wanted a turbo'd car I would get a rice burner.

Plz they have been putting turbo's on cars since before there were ricers. So I wouldn't hate on turbo's

I'm not saying they didnt put turbos in cars before ricers but in my opinion if I wanted a turbo'd car then I would have got a Nissan or Mazda. Some of your older drag cars were turbo'd 6 cyl.
