well thats the other strange part. there is only just a lil more than 54k on it, but i put the motor in the car in 02, and the past 4-5 years it was sitting in my driveway most of the time, i took it for a drive every once and a while. this summer i drove it almost every day, so i dunno if the sitting around had something to do with this or what. here a pic of my car so u guys know what im working with..

damn, something went horribly wrong in there. do you have really hard valve springs? thats about the only thing i can think of that will mess up a chain like that. well, crank walk could possibly cause that, but that usually takes out seals first. put it on your shelf and mark it up "Offerings to the gods of Speed"

It's not an interference engine, so a chain letting loose isn't going to do any internal engine damage. You obviously need to drop the pan to clean out the shrapnel, but it's up to you whether you take it further than that. I wouldn't. With the pan off, you'll be able to see all the inner workings anyway. Just make sure the threads in the cam didn't get stressed/stripped.

well it says its for Lt based engines, so i thought that if i took out my stuff and put that kit in it would make mine a Lt4, like i said i really dont know much when it comes to cams

You don't have a Gen 2 style LT engine, so you can't use an LT cam. Yours is still a Gen 1 engine, basically the same configuration as mine.
Oh, and I believe someone earlier suggested you put in a gear drive instead of a chain. Although that would be nifty, if you did do that, it will "f" up your knock sensor readings which would then mess up your ignition timing.
