For the 305
The TPI option has 60 more ponies than the TBI. But the TPI also had more lift from the cam.
In 90 and 91 There was only a differnce of 10 HP between the 305 and 350 TPI but the 350 had 45 more on torque.
If you are going to do a carb you can alway get your manifold and stuff needed and do it top the 305. Then when the time comes it will all bolt to the 350.

I just dont want to waste the time putting a carb on the 305 and rewiring the fuel pump so its on a toggle and doing all the replumbing on the carb when, as soon as I get my mind made up, I can just go get the 350. I have the money now, I just need to make up my mind. Will a 454 fit in my 91 rs? I would love to put one of those in there. Would a turbo 350 trans be what I would need for a 454? The bigger I can get for my $1000 budget, the better.

Ya know what guys? I was looking at the 325whp 305, and that fits snuggly right in my budget. I probably wouldnt have enough for a new trans though so id have to keep running my 700r4. (Just slips every once and awhile). I may be able to get some 3.73 gears. I wouldnt have enough for a torque convertor either. You guys think I should go ahead and do that or stick with putting in the 350?

i was under the impression the 700r4 wasnt that great of a tranny when you started to get some serios number into it? anyway, have you considered a 383? blueprint engines has some great engines with dyno backed hp numbers. they have a base 383 for something around $3000 on jegs.and they also have a 355 for a lil bit less as well. just putting out some ideas

91_Camaro can not make up his mind. One post he says he is going to do a carb on a 350. Another post says he does not want to waste the time doing a carb and plumbing on a 305. The carb and plumbing will transfer to the 350 and it will be done by the time he is ready for it. With all the other things he needs as he stated in other post he is not going to have enough for a 350.
You said you needed a trans. Well before any motor upgrades you should get the tranny taken care of. You add more power and the tranny is going to slip worse and go out quicker. If you got anything left put it in the bank and save until you have enough to do a complete job with it.

I forgot that the carb setup from the 305, if I put one on there, will swap over to the 350. My bad. But the plan was to get a 350 from pull-a-part like an hour away in louisville then I know where I can get a BUILT turbo 350 with heavy duty clutch plates and shift kit for $250. The motors from pull-a-part are $180 with 30 daywarranty. Then I have to buy my carb (probably find one at pull-a-part), and my rim to fix the cragar set. Any extra of that then ill put into the body probably.
